INTEL TO CUT 3,000 JOBS, REPORTS WEAK Q1:                         
Intel, stung by a drop in quarterly profits amid 
surprisingly weak demand for its computer chips, says it will
cut 3,000 jobs, or nearly 5 percent of its workforce.
The move comes after Intel announced profits dropped 36 percent 
and revenue fell 7 percent in the first quarter. 
The world's largest maker of computer chips cites sluggish
demand for personal computers for the loss.
The results matched expectations set by Intel last month.
