　A: I’m breaking my neck at two jobs so I don’t fall behind in my bills.
　B: Maybe you had better face up to the fact that you can’t enjoy life to the hilt.
　A: I’ll go over my budget again. Don’t fly off  the handle if check to you bounces.
　B: I’m sure it will clear but if you want,  I’ll lend you some money to tide you over.

☆Explanation


　Fly off the handle は Lesson.4で出てきた hit the ceiling、頭に来る、怒ると同じ意味です。

　Hilt は本来、刀や短剣の柄、つかの意ですがこの場合は刀の先端その始まりとして終端に
　あたるつかの部分で終端（リミット）として使われています。

　Fall behind 離されてしまっては追いつけない状態、反対語は
　catch up です。

　Bounce は個人でも小切手がきれるアメリカならではの不渡りの表現です。
 


　☆日本語訳

　A:ふたつの仕事をかけもちして一生懸命働いているから、支払いが追いつかなくなる
　  ことはないんだ。
　B:無理しても望むものがすべて手に入るわけではないってことを認識した方がいいよ。
　A:もう一回自分の家計を見なおしてみるよ、もしチェックが不渡りになっても怒らないで。
　B:そんなことにはならないだろうけど、必要ならきみを助けるためにお金貸すよ。
