SENATE BACKS IMFFUNDING:
WASHINGTON - The U.S. Senate has overwhelmingly endorsed President Clinton's
request for $18 billion for the International Monetary Fund. The Senate on
Thursday voted 84-16 to attach the IMF measure - designed to help the
international lending agency cope with the heavy demands from the
Asian economic crisis - to a military support and disaster relief bill.

NEW FOOD PREP SYSTEM FOR MCDONALD'S:
- After years of testing a computerized and partially robotic kitchen,
McDonald's has announced plans to roll out a just-in-time food preparation
system across the country. McDonald's says its franchisees have agreed to
install the system in all U.S. restaurants by the end of next year. The
company expects to take a charge of up to $190 million in the second quarter
to begin the rollout. Significantly for franchisees.
